Profile Tony Spelman

Tony_Spelman_Director_The_Spelman_Group_Ltd_Picture.jpgTony has worked as a consultant since 2002 on issues of cultural competency, organisational change and relationship development in the health, housing and local government sectors, the Tangata Whenua, Community and Voluntary Sector and in tribal management.  He brings to consulting assignments:
  • an ability to think through organisational issues and concepts from a Māori and Western perspective and the experience to come up with practical approaches that make sense to organisations in their work with Māori
  • 20 years experience working effectively with Treaty of Waitangi issues in public sector organisations and in the community
  • over 20 years general management experience in large public sector organisations with a focus on implementing organisational change
  • 10 years consultancy experience with wide contacts and particular experience of making things work in health and housing organisations, in local government and in diverse communities
  • highly developed communication, financial management and project management skills

Tony is an active member of his tribal authority in Kāwhia, working as Secretary of Te Rūnanganui o Ngāti Hikairo since 1998. He has current experience of governance issues as they affect Mana Whenua and local government agencies.
